Hello beautiful 2017 – Hello New Year’s resolutions!

Welcome to a new year! How exciting is this? The slate is clean, the possibilities are endless. This year I’ve actually done something that I haven’t in a long while…yes, you guessed it – I have succumbed to the peer pressure of New Year’s resolutions. They’re mainly for the business though. I’m really not that good with them on a personal level, so that’s why I normally don’t even pretend. Rather than set out my personal journey at the beginning of the year, I tend to find, that my life is so unpredictable that a “one-step-at-a-time”-approach normally seems to work better for me.

BUT, and here is where this year is different, for Charming Chestnuts I want to be able to plan ahead a bit. I want to be taken seriously and grow my business this year. And with that come certain aspects of planning that make life a lot easier rather than flying by the seat of my pants all the time….Mind you, that approach also has its benefits (but I digress…)

Plan ahead

The main thing I want to focus on is being more organised. I want to be able to have more of a plan – for the day, for the week, but most importantly for the year as a whole. Too often this past year I was caught out by holidays and special occasions creeping up on me. Then I wasn’t able to create enough designs and product for that special occasion and market them in enough in advance. I’m really hoping to change that this year and be able to provide a full gamut of designs and products for all of your special occasions. Let’s “Chestnut” your life 😉

Know my worth

While I want to make sure I provide the best customer service to my clients and especially all the lovely brides who choose to include me in the planning for their special day, I also want to make sure I’m not being taken advantage of. I want to make sure I charge what I’m worth. I have previously written about this, but need to remind myself from time to time. No time like when you’re making your New Year’s resolutions, don’t you think?

Family time

Lastly I want to make sure that while I grow my business and work hard to extend my business reach, I don’t forget to switch off and make quality time for my boys. I’m hoping that with having a better plan in front of me it will be easier to somewhat stick to “business hours” (I use that term very loosely as any business owner will understand). But with my beautiful little family as motivation, I’m sure I can make this one work. Wish me luck.
