Last week I gave myself an out
For the first time since I started Charming Chestnuts, I didn’t put out a blog post and printable – I’m so sorry. The truth is that I was just too overwhelmed with everything that was going on, that by the time I had time to focus on Tuesday, I just thought it was too late. I decided to give myself an out, not publish last week and instead focus this week on other aspects of my shop and be back this Monday refreshed and ready to rock. I hope you can forgive me.
So what happened? Well, on top of the most inopportune-timed stomach bug to go around our family and take us down one after the other like some weird game of human dominoes, the day also came where we said good-bye to my in-laws. We wished them well on their long journey home, but we’re not quite sure when we’ll see them again… America and Australia are separated by quite a bit of water after all. That makes it hard to just pop in for a cup of tea on any given afternoon. One thing we do know though, is that they are in our hearts, always.
Whoever said “sorry is the hardest word” surely has never had to say good-bye.
If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever
I’ve come way to familiar with this aching feeling that only good-byes can evoke in you. The uncertainty of knowing when or where you’re going to see someone again and give them a hug is quite overwhelming.
But let me share this with you, from someone who’s been there and done that…far too many time than I care to admit: I try to comfort myself with knowing in my heart, that distances can never take away the closeness that person has in your heart. Trust in the relationship and love you share with that person and even the hardest good-byes will turn into gratefulness for the time you did get to spend with one another. Focus on the excitement and anticipation for a reunion in body as well as in heart.
And if you’re one of “my people” – you know who you are – please always remember:
If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever
