Heyyaaaaa! How are you? Ready for your weekly dose of Chestnuts? Your free printable awaits!
So this week has been awesome! Every week I watch my little shop grow a little more and it just fills me with a sense of accomplishment and pride. And I’m not saying this or any of the following – because there will be some bragging coming your way (#sorrynotsorry) to sound conceited or arrogant, but I’m just genuinely happy and surprised at how well this whole venture has been going.
Turning back to the beginning of the year for a moment, when I stumbled upon this blog and ETSY shop from Michelle Hickey (you guys might remember me talking about her in this post before – little obsessed, I know). Anyway, I was immediately hooked. She was living a life I have wanted for such a long time now. She was creating beautiful prints and invitations each week, travelling around and making a living from this – and at the same time she was kind and engaging with her audience – hello #girlcrush!! Finding her blog finally gave me to push I needed to start working towards my own launch and give life to Charming Chestnuts.
Now imagine how out of my skin happy I was when I was scrolling through my Facebook feed this week and saw this lovely shout out from Michelle on her own Facebook page! She might not have seen it as such a big deal, but it really meant the world to me! So thank you!
Etsy milestones and awesome customers
And just when I thought the week couldn’t get any better, I suddenly saw myself staring down my 100th sale in my ETSY shop – how cool is that?? Remember only a very short 5 weeks ago I wrote shared this printable with you all about setting goals? I was trying to hit 50 sales for my 3 month ETSY-versary. So it took me 3 months to get to 50 sales and then only another 5 weeks to double that and get to 100? SAY WHAT?? That’s crazy! I can’t believe it and I feel so grateful and humbled by all the great support I’ve been getting.
Hustle, hustle, hustle
I know, I know…this has been a pretty self-indulging post so far, but I just wanted to share my joy and excitement with you. And I also wanted to give you encouragement to pursue your dreams. I’ve read a lot from other ETSY shop owners on the forums about how hard it is to break through, especially in the overcrowded marketplace that ETSY has sadly become. But at the same time, I believe it’s an attitude thing as well. ETSY is not responsible for driving customers your way, it’s merely giving you a platform to start from – what you do with it is up to you. And here I chose – and encourage anyone who’s in the same boat to do the same – to hustle, hustle, hustle. Promote your shop and your services wherever you can, provide awesome customer service and you will reap the rewards – that’s what has worked for me so far and I plan to keep doing that.
So, never give up on your dreams. Follow that burning in your heart to do what you really want to do in your life. It’s so worth it! Have the courage to do new things that are out of the norm, try a new business venture – whatever it might be…but in the words of the original daydream-believer herself – Cinderella: “Have courage and be kind”
