Be whatever you want to be
The lucky ones among us grow up in an environment where you’re led to believe, that once you grow up, you can be whatever you want to be. The illusion of that statement starts to fall apart probably around the high school mark, where you quickly realise that you have to also work hard for becoming what you truly want to be in a few short years. And often you pretty much have the floor pulled out from underneath you once you start your first job right out of college or even straight after high school and get degraded to the bottom of the office totem pole. REALITY-CHECK!
But don’t get me wrong, I don’t regret having that expectation growing up. It gave me a healthy dose of hope for my life that I now carry inside me while I pick myself up off the floor (proverbial carpet having been pulled) and look toward the future. And while my life has turned out to be anything but how I imagined (the good, the bad and the ugly), I still know that I can put the effort in and steer it in whatever direction I choose.

And I have to remind myself to sit back and look at what I’ve accomplished, where I’ve come from and to give life to new dreams as they come along. From whatever direction that may be.
So with these deep thoughts about upcoming decisions floating in my mind this week, I stumbled across this quote that sparked encouragement in me to find the strength to power through. I hope it helps you too.
